Película comentada: La vida de los otros

Uff, cada vez encuentro menos tiempo para añadir reseñas, recortes de prensa o, simplemente, pensamientos y opiniones mías. Hoy que es sábado, a ver si adelanto algo...

Acabo de ver la peli alemana titulada La vida de los otros (Das Leber der Anderen). Yo creía que estaba basada en hechos reales (son mis preferidas) pero veo que no es así. No obstante es un pedazo de peliculón que, aunque dura 144 minutos, no se hace, para nada, largo. Recomiendo su visión.

Es curioso que en esta película lo destacable es que el protagonista se atreve a enfrentarse a sus propias convicciones, amparadas por el pensamiento hegemónico del sistema socialista en el que vive y para el que trabaja, y esto le permite ver claramente la corrupción de dicho sistema y la opresión que está ejerciendo sobre otras personas cuyo único delito es pensar diferente a ese pensamiento hegemónico. Creo que los ciudadanos de España y de Occidente en general deberíamos sacar conclusiones al respecto, desenmascarando la ideología dominante que nos está inoculando la cultura de la muerte (eutanasia, aborto, guerras, etc.) todo ello como algo bueno, deseable, necesario.

Creo que lo que más me gusta de esta película, como de otras que ya comenté (Un hombre para la eternidad, Los últimos días de Sophie Scholl, etc.) es que plantea el mismo dilema moral: hacer lo que se debe hacer o hacer lo que me conviene. En esta frase se resume la tragedia del hombre en la tierra. En situaciones difíciles, bajo presiones asfixiantes, casi siempre hacemos lo que nos conviene, aunque no sea -y casi nunca lo es- lo que se debe hacer desde un punto de vista moral. Y esas presiones y esa ideología dominante no se dan sólo en los regímenes totalitarios. Actualmente en España parece que salirse del discurso zapateril es retrógrado, facha, antihumano y antipatriota.

Me parece que este mundo iría mucho mejor si todos o la mayoría, y especialmente ante situaciones difíciles, hiciéramos lo que se debe hacer éticamente, en vez de hacer lo que nos conviene para "salvar el culo", como se dice vulgarmente. Los que son capaces de sobreponerse a sus miedos y se enfrentan a la adversidad haciendo lo que deben hacer, sin importarles el precio que les harán pagar, es posible que luego pasen a la posteridad como héroes y ejemplo para generaciones. Son ejemplos que no mueren ni cambian aunque cambien las sociedades y las culturas.

Respecto a estos héroes, me estoy acordando de Irena Sendler, de cuyos actos heroicos recibí información a través de un correo electrónico de esos que circulan de unos amigos a otros. En una próxima entrada hablaré de ella. Otros personajes que hicieron lo que debían hacer: la Madre Teresa de Calcuta, Schindler (el de la lista), Matthias Sindelar, Gandhi, etc.

I recently watched the film The Lives of Others (factual error: the English translation of the title would actually read, The Life of Others, which is the English for Das Leber der Anderen in German). I thought it was based on real facts (which are my favourites) but googling I have found that it is not right. It's a cool film, nevertheless, and in spite that it lasts 144 minutes, it doesn't tire one. I recommend to watch it.

It's curious that in this movie the remarkable point is that the main character dares to face his own convictions, that are protected by the surrounding hegemonic way of thinking of the socialist system where he lives and what he works for, and then he can clearly see the corruption of that system and the oppression that that system exert over the people and, specially, over those whose only crime is to think differently to that hegemonic thinking. I believe that the Spanish citizens in particular and the Western citizens in general should draw conclusions about it, unmasking the dominatrix ideology which is inoculating the Culture of the Death (euthanasia, abortion, wars, etc.) offering it like something good, desirable, necessary.

I think that what I love the most of this film, like of the others that I commented (A Man For All Seasons, Sophie Scholl Last days) is that it raises the same moral dilemma: to do what must be done or to do what is preferable for my own interests. In this expression is summarized the tragedy of Mankind on Earth. In difficult situations, under powerful pressures, we usually do what is best for our interests, no matter if it is not -and often it isn't- what we should do from a moral point of view. And those pressures and that dominatrix ideology is not only ocurring in the totalitarian regimes. In fact, in Spain, actually if you go out of the Zapatero's speech, you can be taken as a reactionary, fascist, inhumane and unpatriotic.

I'm almost sure that this world would go better if everybody or the majority, specially before difficult decisions, would do what has to be ethically done, instead of doing what is better to save our skin. Those who are able to overcome their own fears and face the adversity doing what they have to do, no matter the price they have to pay, are probably the future heros and a model for generations. They are examples that never die neither change in spite of the change of the societies and cultures.

To mention a few, I'm now remembering Irena Sendler, whose heroic facts I was noticed by an email that I received from a friend. In an incoming post I will talk about her. Some other recent people that did-what-has-to-be-done: Mother Theresa of Calcuta, Oskar Schindler, Matthias Sindelar, Gandhi, etc.
